Mighty Bloggers in Classic Menswear

Last year, the classic menswear blogging world witnessed a significant change when Will ended his iconic blog, A Suitable Wardrobe. It was widely considered one of the most prominent blogs on the subject, leaving a gap that is yet to be fully filled. The landscape now feels more fragmented, with an increasing number of fast-paced Tumblr and Instagram accounts competing for attention alongside traditional blogs. These new platforms rely heavily on visuals, with minimal writing, which appeals to modern audiences. Nevertheless, a few Tumblrs, like Die, Workwear!, still incorporate substantial text and commentary, bridging the gap between quick consumption and in-depth knowledge.
Even with this shift, I don’t believe that traditional menswear blogs, which combine text and images, will disappear. These blogs offer something that purely visual platforms cannot: a depth of knowledge and thoughtful analysis, which is still highly valued in the classic menswear community.
Hugo Jacomet – Parisian Gentleman
One of the leading figures in traditional menswear blogging is Hugo Jacomet of Parisian Gentleman. Coming from the Blogspot and WordPress generation, Hugo continues to emphasize the importance of writing alongside imagery. In June, he made an appearance at Pitti Uomo, the world-renowned menswear trade show, wearing bespoke French haute couture tailoring, most likely from Cifonelli. His commitment to blending elegant writing with exceptional style has kept him at the forefront of the scene.
Simon Crompton – Permanent Style
Another notable figure is Simon Crompton of Permanent Style, a leading voice in classic menswear and a top WordPress blogger. He is often seen as the natural successor to Will’s position as the most influential blogger in this niche. At Pitti Uomo, Simon showcased his refined taste by wearing a tobacco brown linen suit, made by the Spanish tailor Langa. His blog continues to thrive due to his deep insights into craftsmanship, tailoring, and style, all delivered through thoughtful writing.
Fabio Attanasio – The Bespoke Dudes
One of the newer, but quickly rising, stars in the classic menswear world is Fabio Attanasio of The Bespoke Dudes. Based in Italy, Fabio has embraced the multi-platform approach, utilizing WordPress, Tumblr, Instagram, and Facebook to reach a wide audience. He has successfully positioned himself as a stylish ambassador of classic tailoring, often photographed wearing elegant, bespoke outfits at events like Pitti Uomo. At the latest show, Fabio was spotted in an off-white linen suit, complemented by a straw hat and tassel loafers, effortlessly blending tradition with modern flair.
While platforms like Tumblr and Instagram provide quick visual gratification, traditional menswear blogs like those run by Hugo, Simon, and Fabio continue to play a vital role in educating and inspiring readers. They offer a combination of expertise and style that is unmatched by the fast-paced image-based platforms, ensuring that slow, thoughtful menswear blogs will remain relevant for years to come.
